Venice's lagoon is home to many islands, Burano being perhaps the most colorful of them all.
The island is inhabited by a community of fishermen, who go out in the early hours of the day. Because of its location in the lagoon, the island is regularly blanketed in fog at sunrise. To be able to find their home again, everyone has painted their house a different colour.
In this image, you can see some of these colorful houses, which really stand out with their bright colors!!! The white window frames give a nice contrast, and the green shutters complete the picture. Another nice detail, are the blue and white striped curtains, which you see hanging in front of the door at many houses on the island. The tree on the right adds a natural element to this image, casting a nice shadow over the houses and the street.
This is a typical image of Burano, as you might expect on a quiet early morning on this island.
