Venice's lagoon is home to many islands, Burano being perhaps the most colourful of them all.
The island is inhabited by a fishing community, who go out in the early hours of the day. Because of its location in the lagoon, the island is regularly blanketed in fog at sunrise. To be able to find their home again, everyone has painted their house a different colour.
I made this image in the early morning hours, when all the tourists were still lying on one ear. In this image, you can see a very colourful corner of the island, with two restaurants and the canal in the foreground. Due to the calm weather, the back houses, reflect beautifully in the water!!! The houses in this image have five different colours, yellow, green, orange, pink and blue!!!
