During the blue hour on this beautiful morning, a colour spectacle takes place over the IJsselmeer. The rising sun turns the clouds in the sky from orange to purple and blue. The long shutter speed creates calm in the water, while the stones in the foreground together with the lighthouse on the horizon marking the entrance to the harbour create a beautiful depth effect. Great enjoyment of Holland waterland.

The Afsluitdijk was completed on 28 May 1932 and the official name change of the closed part of the Zuiderzee took place on 20 September 1932. The lake was named after the river IJssel, which flows into it.
