We are in the high mountains of the Andes in Patagonia. The Condor is resting on a rock. In the background, the snowy peaks of the Paine mountain range can be vaguely seen.
The photo was taken in the month of August. It is winter in Patagonia then. It was early in the morning and still quite cold. There were no thermals of rising warm air, so the giant bird of prey was almost impossible to fly. Therefore, I was able to get quite close to the giant bird to take this photo.
