The audience of Calkoen with Sultan Ahmed III took place on September 14, 1727 and went according to strict rules. Here the company, unarmed as prescribed, enters the second court of the palace. Audiences were always held on the day that the janitors, the elite corps, received their pay. At the very moment that Calkoen arrives, they throw themselves with a lot of noise at the dishes of rice.
