Cosmic Ice Sculptures | Carina Nebula | Hubble Space Telescope by Deep Field

Cosmic Ice Sculptures in the Carina Nebula, captured by the Hubble Space Telescope, reveals enormous columns of cold hydrogen gas and cosmic dust sculpted by the intense radiation and stellar winds of massive stars. These spectacular pillars, each roughly one light-year tall, are part of the vast Carina Nebula, where new stars are forming.

This Hubble image combines observations in hydrogen and oxygen + nitrogen, revealing the intricate structures and vibrant colours of this extraordinary star-forming region. Located about 7,500 light-years away in the southern constellation Carina, it is a striking piece of space art and astronomical wall art for anyone fascinated by the universe.

The image is presented with a scientific information layer that adds context to the astronomical object, including its name, classification, distance from Earth, constellation, field of view, and the filters used to create the image. The filter information is visualized using the corresponding wavelengths, expressed in nanometers or micrometers.

This combination of astronomical imagery and scientific information makes the work both a striking piece of space art and an accessible introduction to the universe beyond Earth.

The artwork is created from the highest-resolution source material published by ESA/Hubble and is suitable for large-format printing.
