While visiting Blijdorp Zoo on the warmest March day ever recorded, my eye caught two meerkats standing side by side on a rock. They were standing perfectly straight, alert and with their sharp gaze directed to the right, as if they had heard something important. It was almost as if someone was calling them and they responded at exactly the same time.
Meerkats are known for their curious and social nature. They live in close-knit groups and keep watch together to spot danger in time. This moment exudes exactly that closeness: two little guards standing, shoulder to shoulder, ready to react to what is coming. The way they move in sync and focus their gaze on the same point makes this picture not only funny and endearing, but also particularly dynamic.
Blijdorp Zoo is known for its spacious and natural enclosures, in which animals have the space to display their natural behaviour. This approach ensures that visitors see the animals in an environment close to their natural habitat, making the experience more authentic. With the warm tones of the rock, the soft light of the spring sun and the expressive pose of the meerkats, this is an image that immediately evokes a smile. A perfect photo for the wall, combining playfulness, alertness and natural beauty. Whether you are an animal lover or just love unique moments in nature, this photo brings a bit of cheer and character to any space.
