This Korenwolf or field hamster was quite curious what I was doing.
The photo was taken in a cemetery in Vienna.
The Corn Wolf is a common sight in these cemeteries.
Fun fact is that they can eat the wax from the candles, using it as a fat reserve for the winter period.
I travelled to Vienna especially to observe and photograph these animals.
They usually have 2 entrances to their underground enclosures. Once you find one of the entrances you generally soon see the 2nd one too.
After finding a refuge. I watched the background and light and stationed myself to photograph them.
This field hamster deviated slightly from its normal route and came to have a look, its posture is almost human, that paw on the tombstone:-) They are quite shy because too constantly on their Keep for birds of prey.
