I took this photo on an autumn day at the Bight of Bath, where the warm light fell over the embankment and large ocean-going vessels passed through the narrow, deep channel.
At this point, where the Westerschelde passes into the Scheldt, you can feel both the power of the water and the peaceful vastness of the landscape.
The history of this area - once strategically contested and later demilitarised - gives the place a quiet, almost timeless atmosphere. As you cycle past reeds and tidal waters, it becomes clear why this bend exudes so much calm, space and inspiration.
The cyclist symbolises human strength in a vast landscape where trees with orange-coloured autumn leaves form an atmospheric backdrop.
