The concept came out of the feeling I had driving through the deserted streets of Chicago during the Covid 19 lockdown. Floating in timeless space was the feeling many experienced. There were no anchors to measure the floating time—nothing to refer to our being.
What better describes our state of mind than water, waves, fish, and a picture of a sleeping woman beside a dissolved fish skeleton? The Covid ball just passed us, and time to wake up from this endless, almost intergalactic time/space we found ourselves.
The quietness of the scene translates well through the light color of wavy shapes.
An intimate moment of our lives.
I used acrylic paint on cotton canvas. Instead of a wooden stretcher, I am using a corrugated plastic board. It makes it light and easy to handle. There is no need to cut a tree to paint.
I am using Acrylic paint the same way I am using Oil. Instead of Oil I use clean water, I apply it to the canvas with a drawing already rendering the subject.
After that, I used dissolved water layers of acrylic paint. Building it up to have desired intensity.
