This work shows a double portrait of a pair of Gannets displaying courtship behaviour. The Gannet (Morus bassanus) is a large white seabird from the North Atlantic. The photo was taken during a light rain at a breeding colony on the island of Helgoland in Germany. It is early spring when the pairs are busy preparing for the breeding season. In the picture we see a close-up of the heads of two gannets caressing each other, social behaviour you see a lot in these birds. The background is formed by the sea, which is greyish blue in colour. The photo was taken with a long telephoto lens, so the background is blurred and no details can be seen. As a result, the double portrait of the white birds forms a nice contrast with the dark background.
