The work was inspired by the dunes and woods around the Dutch dune village of Schoorl (municipality of Bergen, in the Dutch province of North Holland) acrylic on canvas by Dutch artist, illustrator and writer Hans Sturris.
The original painting measures 110 x 90 cm in size. The style used is best described as semi-illustrative.
The artist is best known as an illustrator (think of the covers of the Puk and Muk books and many other children's books in the 70s, 80s and 90s of the last century) his paintings are at the interface of abstract, figurative and illustrative.
