Realistic painting in acrylic of the Edsel Ford Model 40 Special Speedster from around 1934, painted by the artist Paul Meijering - The original painting is 90 x 120 cm and available for sale.
Commissioned by Edsel (son of Henry Ford), the car was designed and built to be a sleek 'continental' car based on the roadsters he had seen during a visit to Europe. Ford styling chief Eugene 'Bob' Gregorie was the man responsible and the resulting car had a number of features that made it too radical for production, including an enclosed radiator, no running boards and no doors. The car was, however, regularly driven by Edsel.
For almost 33 years now, Paul Meijering has been active with the paint brushes. As a 17- year old inspired youngster he joined the Academy of Arts in Enschede (Holland) in order to receive a native training in drawing- and painting technique.
