Egyptian-Style Cat Deity and Sun Disc

by Skye Studio

A stylised cat face looks straight out from the centre of a circular black frame, with tall pointed ears, almond eyes striped like vertical pupils, a small triangular nose and a gently open mouth. Fine stripes mark the forehead and pull the eye upward to a large solid black disc floating above the head, framed by a pale halo like a sun or full moon. From behind the face, long tapering blades fan out symmetrically in a wide arc, like wings, a ruff of feathers or the rays of a sunburst.

The design is built from crisp black and light-grey shapes with strict left-to-right symmetry, which gives it the formality of a ceremonial emblem or temple relief. The balance between the round disc and the angular rays creates a rhythm that is both stately and playful, and the wide-open eyes lend the figure a watchful, protective presence.

It recalls the sun-linked feline goddesses of ancient Egypt, such as Bastet and Sekhmet, but is rendered in a clean modern graphic language. Its perfect circular frame also nods to crop-circle-inspired patterns, as if an ancient symbol had been laid out across a field. It could appeal to lovers of Egyptian mythology, cat lovers and anyone drawn to bold symbolic monochrome emblems.
