About "Eilean Donan Castle, Scotland"

About the artwork

Eilean Donan Castle is an originally thirteenth-century castle, located 0.8 kilometres from Dornie, on an island in Loch Duich in the Scottish Highland region. At the beginning of the eighteenth century the castle was blown up. At the beginning of the twentieth century, Eilean Donan Castle was extensively restored and opened to the public. Eilean Donan is Scottish Gaelic for Donan Island, named after Saint Donan. Saint Donan came to Scotland from Ireland around 580. A congregation of his followers probably settled on the island in the late sixth or seventh century. The island had been inhabited before; in the 1920s an Iron Age fort was still visible.
The island lies at the point where three seas/lakes meet, namely Loch Long, Loch Duich and Loch Alsh. It was probably only in the early thirteenth century that a castle was built on the island, as a defence against the Vikings. From the middle of the thirteenth century, the western highlands together with the western islands formed more or less their own kingdom under the Lords of the Isles.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers. Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
