At 3718 meters high, it is the 3rd highest volcano in the world and the highest mountain in Spain.
With the view you have to be lucky, it can also be completely foggy at the top of the volcano. It had been cloudy for days so I was already worried. In the end it was fantastic weather.
After about half an hour of walking on a very bumpy stone path you get to this view : Pico Viejo, a crater with a diameter of 800 meters. In the distance you can see islands La Gomera, El Hierro and La Palma.
The tranquility, the huge view and the very special environment makes for an impressive experience.
