About ‘Evening gold over Bangkok’ by Walter G. Allgöwer

Like a taut golden bow, the Rama VIII Bridge rises above the dark breath of the Mae Nam Chao Phraya. Its shining pylon stands like a torch in the twilight blue, a silent guardian between sky and water. From its top, the cables flow down like strings of an invisible harp, on which the evening breeze plays a silent melody.
Beneath it, the river glides lazily along, carrying the twinkling lights away in gentle waves and transforming them into shimmering stars. A boat passes by, its colourful glow reflected in the water like a floating dream. The city behind it breathes in sparkling windows, skyscrapers and temples merging into a silhouette of past and present.
Bangkok reveals itself here as a place of contrasts: concrete and prayer, traffic and silence, speed and eternity. The bridge connects not only banks, but times – it spans a golden thought across the river that has carried stories for centuries.
In the soft blue of the night, everything seems bigger and closer at the same time. The lights draw lines in the darkness, and for a moment it seems as if the city is holding its breath – carried by the calm river, embraced by the warm glow of the bridge.
