The pygmy owl is Europe's smallest owl: not much bigger than a house sparrow. At night, I was in Estonia with others looking for animals when I saw something scurrying away into a hole. When we went to look, suddenly this little pygmy owl was looking at us! Up close, we really noticed how small this bird is. We quickly left it alone and continued our search for other nice animals.
