On a bare branch, right in front of me, sits a buzzard. Its posture is calm, but its gaze piercing - fierce and inquisitive, as if reading me. No flight, no startle, just focus. He knows I am there, and chooses to stay put.
The details are razor-sharp: the hooked beak, the muscular legs, the pattern in the feathers. But what speaks most is his gaze - alert, confident, full of control.
This is no fluke, but a rare moment of contact between human and bird of prey. Brief, intense and silent.
