The Greek Air Force's F-16 'Zeus' demo display. The F-16 Fighting Falcon is a single-engine multipurpose fighter jet that has been widely used since 1979. In the Netherlands and Belgium, among other countries, it is the successor to the F-104 Starfighter. Greek F-16s are equipped with state-of-the-art technology and have more powerful engines than the older variants of this legendary fighter. They are also often equipped with conformal fuel tanks, which fit closely to the fuselage and thus do not affect the F-16's streamline as negatively as large tanks under the wings. Thus, they enjoy greater flying range and manoeuvrability during operations on NATO's European southern flank. With their beautiful camouflage, adapted to the Mediterranean environment, their F-16s also look different from Belgian aircraft.
