Feather Vase

by Christian Ovís

‘Feather Vase’ depicts a slender vase from which a broad fan of multicoloured, feather-like shapes shoots upwards. Turquoise, red, pink, green, orange and purple are layered in long strokes. Small splashes and dots float around the fan. The background is a warm pale yellow with a delicate, layered texture. At the base, the vase rests on a narrow strip full of traces of colour.

The vase has a narrow neck and a rounded base in shades of blue-grey. Red and turquoise accents link the vessel to the fanning-out colours above. Starting from the neck, the lines first converge closely before gradually spreading out further and further. The outer strokes are thin and airy, whilst the centre is denser and darker. The calm yellow background gives the numerous splashes plenty of space and keeps the main shape clearly visible.

This colourful still-life piece suits an interior with warm base tones and vibrant accents. In a living room, dining room or creative workspace, the broad colour fan can serve as a striking focal point. Turquoise or pink accessories can complement individual sections. From a distance, you mainly notice the contrast between the narrow vase and the large fan; up close, the small droplets, loose lines and varying layers of colour become visible.
