McDonnell Douglas DC-10, is a three-engine widebody aircraft that made its maiden flight in 1970. Originally, the DC-10 was designed as a twin-engine aircraft. Because of the requirement to operate with a full load from existing, sometimes quite short, runways, a third engine was needed, which was placed in the tail. This tail engine became characteristic of this aircraft type. The DC-10 was further developed into the MD-11 in the mid-1980s. This photo was taken on 24 September 2017.
