Not every heroic deed takes place on the battlefield. Sometimes, true strength lies precisely in the small, everyday tasks that keep an army running. In this unique digital artwork, we see a stately Maine Coon, dressed in a historical uniform from the American Civil War era, as he concentrates on doing the washing-up in a simple army camp.
The combination of an imposing cat with his characteristic fluffy coat and a serious military setting creates a surprising and humorous scene. In the background, tents, a campfire and soldiers create an authentic atmosphere, whilst in the foreground the washing-up bowl, enamel plates and wooden washboard bring daily life in a field camp to life.
It is precisely this contrast that makes the image so appealing. Where one might expect a soldier with a rifle, here stands a loyal camp companion ensuring that life behind the lines carries on as normal. The result is a work of art that not only brings a smile to your face, but also invites you to linger and admire the many details. The warm colours, nostalgic feel and realistic finish give this creation a timeless character. It is a special combination of history, fantasy and animal art that fits perfectly in a living room, study, man cave or any space where a touch of humour and originality is appreciated. A unique glimpse into life in a historic army camp, told through the eyes of an unflappable Maine Coon.
Photography has been my passion since 1975. Whereas in the past I often photographed people, I now mainly focus on photographing landscapes, nature and animals.
