Just imagine to watch some common kingfishers resting on a branch at a pond who are waiting to be fed!
As part of my project I planned a trip to a place where I knew some Common Kingfishers had a nest. Moreover, I knew that it was about time that their youngsters would leave the nest.
This morning , when hiding in a small shed, about five young kingfishers left their nest and followed their father to this pond and waited to be fed.
This image shows only two young kingfishers and the handover of a small fish. A unique moment to be captured and witnessed.
The young kingfishers have lighter feathers, a short white tip on their beak and dark black/brown feed. The adult kingfishers have orange coloured feed.
Feeding their Youngers outside the nest is just for a couple of days and once they have learned to dive the adults will chase them away as to become independent.
A lovely image of a rare moment and a real eye-catcher at your wall!
