About ‘Gallery (urbex)’ by Jaco Verheul

The site of the Convento da Graça monastery was formerly known as Almofala and was chosen by D. Afonso Henriques, Portugal's first king, as an encampment for his troops during the siege of Lisbon in 1147. In fact, this spot has one of the best views of the Castelo de São Jorge castle. While today the view is much appreciated by the people of Lisbon, in the past it was mainly of strategic importance. The foundation of the church and monastery dates back to the early Portuguese, but only came to prominence in the 16th century . Much of it was destroyed by the 1755 earthquake, as was much of Lisbon, and was soberly rebuilt in the Baroque style. Inside, altars of gilded carvings can be seen in the chapels, and the bell tower, by Manuel da Costa Negreiros, dates from 1788.

What are the delivery times?

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
