A walk through the historic centre of Belgian Ghent is always a good idea, but at sunrise it is truly magical! This picture with the St Michielsbrug in the foreground leading the eye to the St Niklaas church and the brilliant sunrise is one of my favourite photos of this city.
St Michael's Bridge in Ghent offers a stunning panoramic view of the city's three iconic towers: St Nicholas' Church, Ghent's Belfry and St Bavo's Cathedral. The bridge itself, with its neo-Gothic design and ornate lanterns, connects the picturesque streets Graslei and Korenlei. The nearby Saint Nicholas Church, one of the oldest churches in Ghent, is a magnificent example of Scheldt Gothic with an impressive interior and a crossing tower towering over the nave and transepts. Korenmarkt, a lively square next to Sint-Niklaaskerk, was historically a trading square for grain and is now a popular meeting point with cafés, restaurants and shops, serving as an important hub for public transport and providing access to various attractions.
