Along Northern Ireland's rugged northern coast lies one of the country's most mysterious and impressive natural phenomena: the Giant's Causeway. More than 40,000 basalt columns, formed by ancient volcanic activity, lie like huge stone steps along the ocean - sleek, hexagonal, and almost too perfect to be natural.
According to legend, this wonder was built by the giant Finn McCool, who wanted to make a path to Scotland. That myth fits perfectly with the atmosphere of the place, where the wind howls over the cliffs and the waves crash hard against the rocks.
