The Goldcrest,
The first time I saw a goldcrest was when I bought a 200-500mm lens. A world opened up. Before, everything was a bird but with so much zoom there appears to be so much variety. At first I thought I had photographed a very special bird but nothing could be further from the truth. A small bird that is constantly moving in search of food. Quite an art to capture a nice portrait then. But what fun they are and always in groups together. With a beautiful stripe across the head which can also stand upright. At 9 cm and 5 grams, the smallest bird in Europe.
I have been photographing since I was little, but the beauty of nature is something I really started to see by actively photographing landscapes and nature. By consciously standing still and taking in your surroundings you learn to look and feel differently.
