The beauty of a single line is reflected in this one-line drawing of a tulip.
The simplicity of this very flower suits this form of line drawing extremely well; by drawing the shape in one smooth line, without taking the 'pen' off the drawing surface, a minimalist modern image appears.
I chose to accentuate the drawing with a tonal green colour which makes the continuous drawing stronger. The line drawing itself is lovely in the soft green colour. Spring jumps out at you!
Tulips are seen as something was part of the typical Dutch culture, but the origin can be found in Turkey, where the Ottoman sultans wore a tulip on their turban as a symbol. The name tulip thus comes from the Persian word "doelband" meaning turban.

I was always drawing ー as early as primary school, the margin of my notebooks was full of scribbles that didn't have much to do with what was supposed to be there. A lot of nature, especially flora.
