This picture was taken in Asilah in northern Morocco and shows a narrow, green wooden door. The door is round at the top, as is the plastered frame in which it is placed. The pointed arch shape gives it a peaceful look.
The rest of the façade is plastered white. The white plaster provides a clear contrast to the green wood of the door. The frame of the door is decorated and battlements are visible at the top of the façade. The combination of colour, shape and material is typical of urban architecture in many Moroccan cities. Especially in historical districts, this style is still often used.
The picture quietly shows the richness of Moroccan architecture, with attention to detail in both the design of the door and the use of mosaic. The combination of simplicity and decoration makes this facade characteristic of the streetscape in Morocco and the coastal town of Asilah.
