The rolromed stem of the bastard hawk has felty hairs. When the seeds are ripe, the fruit calyx pops open. Then the seeds emerge with their beautiful long hair crest. This hair crest allows the small round-oval seeds, which are nuts, to travel a considerable distance on the wind.
