Tips for use

Hamburg is at its most beautiful during the Blue Hour: as the day slowly draws to a close and the sky glows in deep shades of blue and violet, the city on the Binnenalster begins to sparkle.

This photograph was taken from the Lombardsbrücke and offers a view across the water towards Hamburg’s illuminated city centre. The lights of the buildings are reflected on the calm surface of the Alster and blend with the last glimmer of the sky to create an atmospheric composition.

The interplay between nature and urban life is particularly enchanting: in the foreground, the expanse of the Inner Alster; behind it, the striking silhouette of the city centre with its brightly lit façades. At this moment, Hamburg appears both lively and tranquil – elegant, Hanseatic and full of atmosphere.

The Blue Hour lends this familiar cityscape a very special atmosphere. It transforms a familiar viewpoint into a striking image that captures the atmosphere of Hamburg in a unique way.
