In the flat Dutch landscape, there are many wetlands with wide reed beds, as here near tall trees. An ideal habitat and nesting area for birds of prey, in this case the harrier. It builds its nest in the wide reed belt in spring, gathering branches, reed stalks and grasses to build its nest. There is busy flying to and fro until this beautiful bird of prey finishes its nest, it is a beautiful sight to see them come flying in with nesting material, or with a captured mole or mouse in their razor-sharp talons. Here the harrier flies above the reeds, in the first morning light, very early, during a beautiful sunrise. It is only April, so the reeds are still yellow, the trees are just beginning to form their foliage, the landscape is still shrouded in soft tones, a lovely atmosphere for capturing this beautiful bird of prey in flight. A lovely landscape photo for the wall!
