Four faces diagonally on the plane and a heart in the middle .That is the first impression of the painting 'Heartrobbery'. Both the pale faces in the corners and the red heart in the centre attract attention. But the red heart wins. Or are there more of them?
The faces loom out of the dark blue background. They stare at you but the eyes do not focus. A fifth face is fused with a pale heart in the middle. You can just barely see a half-closed eye.
Three holes one above the other pierce the painting. Three shots, two miss, one hit. The second shot right in the middle of the red heart. That shot by Amor is a direct hit and drills deep inside.
Is it a bitter scene from the shooting gallery of life where everyone has to deal with heartbreak? Of course, but 'Heartrobbery' goes further. The title refers to theft. Theft of your heart. And like any thief, Amor has no regard for the suffering he causes.
