This hand-painted watercolour painting shows a green meadow stretching under a wide blue sky. The impressionistic style and the 'line & wash' painting technique used creates smooth transitions between different greens and blues - from fresh grass-green hues to a summer cloudy sky.
At the centre of the scene is a Groningen farmhouse located in Westerwolde. This composition was repainted from a photo image of my own that I photographed on location.
The farmhouse is painted in warm, reddish-brown tones, with an orange tiled roof that stands out against the greenery. Around the farmhouse grow a few trees with light green leaves. A fence is visible around the farmhouse and in the foreground a grassland with red poppies.
The horizon is low and wide, typical of Groningen where you have beautiful views of the region, with the meadows, trees and sky playing a prominent role.
