About "High altar | Catedral de la Encarnación de Málaga | interior | travelphotography"

About the artwork

The high altar of Malaga Cathedral is one of the most beautiful I have ever seen, it is a beautiful piece of Renaissance art, with intricate details and an impressive look. It was not easy to photograph, it was very dark inside and several photos'd have to be taken to get to this result.

The church is located in the historic centre of Málaga, close to other important sights such as the Alcazaba and the Roman Theatre. All are buildings from different periods and with their own character. For lovers of travel photography, history and architecture, this city is a dream.

The cathedral was built in the 14th to 18th centuries. Construction was never fully completed, which can be seen by the missing second tower, giving the cathedral the nickname "La Manquita" (the one-armed woman). The architecture of the cathedral is a mix of Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque styles. The exterior has mainly Renaissance features, while the interior contains Gothic elements.
