Hornbeam Bach Flower Remedy: Mental Freshness by Renate Sell

This work depicts a gentle, light-filled face that seems to emerge almost weightlessly from the background. The figure appears calm, clear and alert – her eyes radiate a quiet presence, as if inviting the viewer directly into a moment of inner clarity.
Delicate, flowing colour gradients in green, gold and a hint of rosé frame the face and blend softly into the surroundings. Particularly striking are the delicate hornbeam blossoms, which unfold like natural adornments at the side of the face. They appear almost alive and seem to be gently in motion – a symbol of renewal, lightness and the reawakening of one’s own strength. Upon closer inspection, one discovers many small, subtle details: the soft transitions in the hair, the barely visible yet perceptible glow in the background, and the fine lines that lend the image a serene depth. Everything appears deliberately understated yet full of expression.
The inspiration for this work stems from the desire to visualise a state of inner freshness – that moment when fatigue dissolves and new clarity emerges. It is not about external energy, but a quiet, inner alertness that grows from within.
The painting was developed from a personal sketch and then intuitively worked out in colour. The focus was not on perfection, but on the feeling – the trust in the creative flow and the gentle guidance during the painting process.
The atmosphere of this work is calm, clarifying and luminous. It is particularly suited to spaces where new thoughts are allowed to emerge: practices, workspaces or places of tranquillity. It reminds the viewer that mental clarity need not be forced – it arises when we reconnect with ourselves.
