Vestrahorn and Stokksnes.
Steep cliffs rising at the edge of a lagoon, peaks up to 454 metres high and black sand beaches all around - that's Vestrahorn.
This mountain range lies on the Stokksnes peninsula.
Just off the coast are several islets where seals can often be seen.
Among others, the arctic tern, eider ducks, pied-billed plovers and grey fringeheads breed here in this area. Especially watch out for the arctic tern, they can be tricky if you get close to them. On the peninsula, at the end of the road, is a NATO radar station. Standing here, you can feel the power of the Atlantic Ocean as the waves pound on the rocky shore.
Iceland is an island state northwest of mainland Europe. Iceland is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean to the south, the Denmark Strait to the west and the Greenland Sea, part of the Arctic Ocean, to the north. The northeastern part of the country lies just inside the Arctic Circle.
