This enchanting, harmonious landscape photograph was taken at the end of May 2021 in the late evening hours at a hidden forest lake. Unspoilt, fairytale lake water surrounded by dense mixed forest and bizarre reed grass invite you to take an extensive nature walk. The motif radiates calm and serenity. It captivates with its meditative ambience and promises relaxation of mind and soul.
The Nonnenfließ is a river in north-eastern Brandenburg and a tributary of the Schwärze on the right. It is about eleven kilometres long and has a catchment area of about 89 square kilometres. Via the Schwärze and the Finow Canal, the Nonnenfließ belongs to the catchment area of the Oder. It is only minimally polluted by municipal wastewater and is no longer subject to economic use. Its water is moderately polluted. The Nonnenfließ rises south of Tuchen, a district of Breydin in the Barnim district, and maintains a roughly northerly flow direction until its mouth. It flows past the former Neue Mühle, picks up the Trampegraben on the right at the former Schönholzer Mühle and flows past the Liesenkreuz two kilometres before its mouth, where it is joined by the Brennengraben. In the Eberswalde district of Spechthausen, the Nonnenfließ joins the Schwärze. Since the 17th century, the confluence of the two waters has been dammed to form a mill pond.
The Nonnenfließ was formed about 15,000 years ago.
It flows through a meltwater channel formed at the end of the Vistula Ice Age and rises in an area of broken forest and moorland. The deep incision of the Nonnenfließ into the Barnim plateau creates an almost low-mountain landscape. The river meanders strongly and has typical baffle and sliding slopes as well as spring bogs.
