Impressionist scene

by Christian Ovís

This Impressionist scene depicts a brightly coloured interior with a red chair and two potted plants against an orange-yellow wall. The chair has wide armrests, a high back and dark shadows along its legs. On the left are green leaves and larger reddish-brown stems in round pots. A rectangular window with dark mullions and coloured panes is visible behind the plants.

The composition has a distinctly graphic structure. Large areas of colour and clear contours make the individual objects easily recognisable. The round pots and curved leaves contrast with the straight lines of the window and the chair. Warm reds and oranges predominate, whilst greens and blues provide a cool counterbalance. Subtle colour variations in the wall and floor soften the clean-lined layout. The empty chair serves as the main focal point amongst the plants.

This colourful interior wall decoration is ideal for a living room, dining room or workspace with warm accents. Red and orange complement wood; green can harmonise with real houseplants. A neutral wall gives the bold shapes room to breathe. From a distance, the red chair and the bright wall stand out. Up close, the window panes, the edges of the leaves and the shadows around the pots become visible.
