Early in the morning in Joshua Tree National Park (California), the sky colours a warm palette of shades of purple, pink, orange and perhaps a little gold. The sky seems to whisper above the arid landscape, where greens and browns nestle in the shapes of flowers, cacti, rocks and sand.
In this quiet symphony of colour and emptiness, nature shows its soul - a timeless moment of beauty and serene joy. All this under a soundscape of a howling Coyote.
Photographed with a special analogue Helios 44 lens known for its 'Swirly Bokeh', When used at large apertures (such as f/2.0) in combination with a busy background, a circular blur is created around the subject - an almost painterly effect that modern lenses often try to avoid precisely. The lens was produced in the former Soviet Union, often at the KMZ or Zenit factories. It is made entirely of metal, heavy and mechanically very solidly built. This gives a nostalgic, "vintage" feel when used.
