Teuni's Dreams of Reality about Kalmthoutse heide with ground fog
On a beautiful early morning in September before sunrise a visit to the Kalmthoutse heide is highly recommended.
When, after a cold night with a lot of condensation in the air, the temperature drops below the dew point, ground fog arises, also called 'Witte wieven'.
If you then also climb the fire tower you have a beautiful overview of the heath landscape.
In the beginning, the ground fog was only visible in the back of the landscape, but as the sun rose, the ground fog expanded.
This process was very impressive. The image changed by the minute and the fog moved like a white blanket over the moor, until all you could see were the treetops.
In this image you can already see a bit that the sun has reached the peaks and the warm colors of autumn are already emerging a bit.
It is very worthwhile to get out of bed early for this.
