A particularly impressive site in Berchtesgaden is the Kirchleitn Chapel. Since its construction, the chapel has become a symbol of Berchtesgaden. The chapel overlooking the Berchtesgaden market to the Watzmann opposite is one of the most photographed motifs in all of Bavaria.
The chapel on the Ponnzenzenbichl is the destination of the meditation path to the eight Beatitudes. The Chapel of the Beatitudes is also called the "Kirchleitenkapelle" because the chapel stands on a "Leitn" (slope) above the parish house of St. Andreas and from there it has a view of the four churches in Berchtesgaden.
