The North American F-100 Super Sabre is a fighter designed by North American Aviation in the late '40s.
This aircraft was the first successful attempt to build a fighter that could fly supersonically in horizontal flight. The sound barrier was broken with this aircraft in May 1953, and the Super Sabre set a world record on 29 October 1953 when it reached a speed of 1,217 km/h. In 1954, the aircraft was commissioned by the US Air Force. For the manufacturer, it was the successor to the successful F-86 Sabre.
