Tips for use

Point your camera at the floor or a piece of furniture first, then move it slowly up towards the wall. A bare white wall is hard for your phone to recognise.
Move your phone gently from side to side. Holding it still or waving it around quickly does not help.
Make sure there is enough light. In a dark room your phone has nothing to lock onto.

About ‘Leaves under your feet’ by Frieda van Limbeek

With every step you take, the richly coloured foliage springs up beneath your feet, as if the earth had spread out a velvet blanket. The top layer of leaves is swept aside by a gentle, rustling breeze, whilst the dark, damp leaves beneath release their characteristic scent of ripe autumn and wet bark. Your feet cut a trail through the mass, which, with every movement, stirs, shifts and closes up behind your heels.

This painting attempts to capture this. The dynamism of the leaves is created by the paint, which has been blown onto the canvas using the acrylic pouring technique. The leaves were first applied to the canvas using a glue gun; after painting, they were accentuated by embroidery, by tracing over them with an acrylic pen, or by covering them with gold leaf. As the canvas is hexagonal, it was photographed against a felt background, which enhances the soft blanket of autumn leaves spread across the earth.

I started actively creating art at the beginning of 2025. Although I was very creative as a child, I didn’t pursue it very actively afterwards. As I’d chosen a technical profile at secondary school, the creative activities at school also dried up.

Recently, however, I’ve felt the need to dust off this talent. I’m a Christian and I believe that God has been steering me more and more towards creating art of late. I believe that, as an artist, I can reveal something…
