Portrait of a Leopard, Panthera pardus, against a black background. The leopard is a large, muscular feline with short, powerful legs and a long tail. The head is broad and slightly rounded with small, rounded ears. The snout is medium sized, with powerful jaws and long whiskers.
The fur of a leopard is covered with many black spots. On the body and upper half of the legs, these are often grouped with brown spots in rosettes. There are also completely black, ungrouped spots, mainly on the belly, head and lower legs, but also on the body. The tail is also spotted, from the beginning to the middle, but more ringed at the end. The ground colour of most animals is sandy yellow or light brown, but the colour can vary greatly, from almost white to completely black in the case of the black panthers, which live mainly in Indonesia and in the African highlands. The belly, throat and chin are whitish. The colour and coat length depend on the place where they live, but black and yellow leopard cubs can be from the same mother. The fur pattern provides camouflage for the animal, so it can easily go unnoticed. The ears are black on the back with a prominent white mark in the middle. (Wikipedia)
