At the heart of Diu Fort, built by the Portuguese in the 16th century, stands a black and white lighthouse, a modern addition to this historic site. Built to guide ships across the Arabian Sea, it contrasts with the ancient walls and the remains of the colonial past. From its ramparts, you can still make out the presence of the defensive cannons, evidence of a time when Diu was a strategic point for maritime trade.
The whitewashed walls and weathered stonework add to the charm of this place where history and modernity meet. Surrounded by vegetation and dominating the horizon, this lighthouse remains a silent sentinel, watching over the coasts of Gujarat.
Today, Diu Fort attracts visitors in search of heritage and exceptional ocean views. A stroll around its walls, punctuated by spectacular views, offers a journey back in time, where each stone tells a fragment of India's colonial history.
