About the artwork

Lightpainting ('dyeing with light'), also called luminography, is a technique in photography and has two applications. By using a long exposure time one can capture light traces with a moving light source or illuminate an object from multiple angles. Similar effects can also be achieved by moving the camera itself instead of the light source during the exposure time.

The first documented lightpainting dates from 1889 and is mentioned by the makers Étienne-Jules Marey and Georges Demeny "Pathological Walk From in Front&quot. Later, in 1914, Frank Gilbreth and his wife Lillian Moller Gilbreth created a lightpainting by lightly attaching it to workers and thus recording their movements. The first known art photographer to use the technique was Man Ray, who made his series "Space Writing" in 1935. Another well-known photographer was Barbara Morgan, who published her lightpaintings from 1940 onwards.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers. Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
