Los Angeles, city of dreams! For my work, I got to go this way again and of course my photography equipment comes along as standard. Beforehand, I had planned a number of locations including this one, the Jerome C. Daniel Overlook, from where you have a great view of the motorway leading towards downtown Los Angeles.
It is a place I have been to before but that was a very long time ago. The challenge here is that the gate closes at 6pm, which for most of the year is too early for a long-shutter speed shot. Now it was winter and getting dark early, perfect conditions for capturing the light trails on the highway here.
From the official vantage point, I had to walk down a little way as I had a clear view of the motorway there. Once there, I had enough time to get my tripod ready and set up my camera with the right settings. Now it was waiting for them sun to set and the shooting could begin. After an hour, I was done and could climb up to the car park where my car was, satisfied.
With this, it's half over for me. The other half to make the work suitable for my shop at work on the wall, I do at home with the necessary post-processing of various photo programmes. All in all, this takes time, but if the end result is what I had in mind, I am very satisfied and this work will not look out of place on your wall.
