In Wollumbin National Park in New South Wales, the ancient Gondwana Rainforest unfolds in all its splendour. This UNESCO World Heritage Site looks like a jungle paradise forest - ferns and palm trees as far as the eye can see. At the foot of Mt Warning, not far from Byron Bay, a world of lush green begins, in which dense palm leaves stretch a soft canopy over the forest.
Between their arches, the light falls only in fine rays onto the ground, gently illuminating mosses, ferns and young shoots. The forest is quiet and yet full of life. In the humid air there is a delicate scent of wood and tropical plants that accompanies every movement. The many shades of green range from deep, earthy dark green to fresh, shiny nuances that sway gently in the wind.
Large trees tower over the palms and their roots draw lines across the forest floor. Ferns spread out like natural patterns over the shady areas. This palm jungle has a tranquillity that is almost meditative.
Its clear structure, bright green colour and natural depth make this scene ideal as a wallpaper or framed mural - a piece of Australian wilderness for any room.
